Geocaching is an action packed adventure full of quick thinking, team collaboration, and spontaneous creativity. Teams of four to five people utilize a handheld GPS (Global Position System) along with a set of pre-determined locations to locate a "cache" of prizes, clues, or trivia. The GPS units guide teams to within 25 feet of their goal. After that, they use their wits and determination to decipher written clues to find the hidden cache.
Geocaching is mildly strenuous requiring teams to walk for about
two miles on an average course. Because a team must find one
cache before it can move onto the next, each team will only move
as fast as the slowest team member. Collaborative effort on clues,
trivia, technology, and creative thinking make this event
a true group effort.
This is a competition!
Points are awarded to and deducted from each team according
to their ability to find every cache, answer trivia, implement "team creativity" and show team participation. Each team works with their own set of pre-determined locations giving each team
a level playing field. This event is perfect for small or large groups.
